Raving Fans (and the PERFECT Clients)

It has been a while since working on a deal has been this much fun. I closed on a property last week, and from start to finish it was . . . well, fun. When I got the initial call, Mr. Prospective Buyer said, “We have worked with several other Realtors, we haven’t liked any of them. We found your website and would like for you to show us a house.”

As I kissed my husband good-bye that day as I went to meet these people, I told him that I would be back very soon “because they seem to have a certain disdain for Realtors.” 😉 After showing them one or two houses, we stood in a driveway discussing particulars, and Mrs. Prospective Buyer turned to her husband and said, “She’s the one, Brandon.  I LOVE HER!” THEY insisted that I give them a Buyer Agency Agreement right then because they were ready to buy.

From that point on, it was an exercise in excitement . . . the way it’s supposed to be when someone is looking for a home. Funny, involved, responsive, got everything immediately that the Lender asked for, never questioned, just got involved.  After we went Under Contract, she would go and just sit in the driveway of her soon-to-be new home every day and would send me texts throughout the day about how much she liked me. The Seller of the home lived across the street from the house they were selling and would see Misty sitting in her car every day. Intrigued, she finally went over and asked her what she was doing, and Misty said, “Just dreaming.” Fifty years apart in age, they became good friends before the closing ever happened.

At the closing table, Misty bounced in her chair throughout the signing of the paperwork with excitement to be done. BY THAT EVENING, she and Brandon were almost completely moved in and invited my family over for a bar-b-que!  It made me realize how much I truly have missed the excitement of Buyers who appreciate not only what we do for them, but also who are truly thankful for the home in which they are living. Everywhere I turn, Misty is writing rave reviews about me, and I get calls from people to whom she is referring me . . . THIS is what it’s all about, and makes our jobs SO worthwhile! Congratulations, Misty and Brandon!

  1. Beautiful story Mimi and quite moving. In many profession people do not realize that they are not selling a product or service but a dream too. A little callousness on their part hurt a lot to the clients for whom the thing is much much more than a product or service.

This is the way work should be, fun 🙂
